FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
Reentry Resources

Hearing from families is not just nice, it’s necessary. Meaningfully integrating their feedback will increase the success of your plan and student success. Find ways to authentically connect with families and amplify their voice as a true partner in their child's learning.

This document provides guidance for districts, schools, and educators who want to deepen family engagement and continue to foster learning during the pandemic, and for parent and community groups advocating for stronger and more community-connected practices in their schools.

No matter what approach your school is taking to distance learning, make the effort to first connect with families before implementing learning goals. Find out what your families’ specific situations are during this time, and what their needs and goals are for their children. That information will drive what learning at home (and at school) will look like.

This log can assist your team in keeping track of contact with students and families throughout the school year and across various reopening scenarios. Tracking communication across team members and time will reinforce the contributory role of families in the educational decision making process.
